Welcome

Walk for Remembrance and Peace (WRAP)

“The Walk for Remembrance and Peace” is a citizen’s initiative created to unite people from all nations in a walk through the battlefields and towns of Sicily, for the purpose of remembering the sacrifice of those who fought and died for liberty and peace and those civilians caught in the lines of battle.

The proposed walking trail will travel over 225 kilometers connecting Sicilian towns from Piazza Armerina to Adrano along the path taken by the 1st Canadian Division in 1943. This marked trail, complete with educational materials and a website, is intended to attract military tourism, including students from Canada and around the world.

Participants will be able to walk all or any number of the battlefields and through the towns of the Province of Enna as they learn about the violent history of the summer of 1943 and the very difficult but highly successful reconstruction of Sicilian society by the efforts of Sicilians and the Allied Military Government of Occupied Territories (AMGOT) in Sicily.
