Le sentier du souvenir & de la paix
"La marche pour le souvenir et la paix est une initiative citoyenne créée pour réunir des personnes de toutes les nations dans une marche à travers les champs de bataille et les villes de Sicile, dans le but de se souvenir du sacrifice de ceux qui ont combattu et sont morts pour la liberté et la paix, ainsi que des civils pris dans les lignes de combat.
The proposed walking trail will travel over 200 kilometers connecting Sicilian towns from Piazza Armerina to Adrano along the path taken by the 1st Canadian Division in 1943. This marked trail, complete with educational plaques and a website, is intended to attract military tourism, including students from Canada and around the world.
Les participants pourront parcourir tout ou partie des champs de bataille et des villes de la province d'Enna tout en découvrant l'histoire violente de l'été 1943 et la reconstruction très difficile mais très réussie de la société sicilienne grâce aux efforts des Siciliens et du gouvernement militaire allié des territoires occupés (AMGOT) en Sicile.
