After midday, the 2nd Brigade, supported by tanks from the Three Rivers Regiment, advanced towards Ispica from Pachino.
The town, located on a rocky ridge, offered the opportunity for a sustained defence, but Allied naval and aerial bombardment the night before and that morning, reduced the strength of the Italian opposition.
After an ultimatum, followed by a warning artillery barrage, Ispica surrendered and when the battalion entered the town in the afternoon, it was met with the surrendered military and the civilian population, who welcomed them.
Most of the population had moved to the nearby countryside, but were still caught up in the battles as the two armies faced each other.

La città, posta su un costone roccioso, offre l’opportunità per una difesa prolungata, ma i bombardamenti navali e aerei alleati della notte precedente e di quella stessa mattina, riducono la forza dell'opposizione italiana.
Dopo un ultimatum seguito da una scarica di avvertimento di artiglieria, Ispica capitola e quando nel pomeriggio il battaglione entra nell’abitato, riceve la resa dei militari e l’accoglienza della popolazione civile.
La maggior parte della popolazione si trasferisce nelle campagne vicine. Sono momenti concitati dove i due eserciti si fronteggiano e spesso i civili si ritrovano coinvolti nelle azioni di guerra.
