While a battalion from the 2nd Brigade moved North towards Piazza Armerina, the remaining battalions settled West and East of San Michele di Ganzaria. Patrols searched the roads and paths around San Michele and one of them reached Mirabella Imbaccari, about five kilometres away. The patrol captured two hundred Italian soldiers from the Livorno Division, as they were retreating in a north-easterly direction towards Catania.
The Canadians in this region were joined by units from the British 231st (Malta) Brigade, which had received orders to advance on Raddusa from Caltagirone. In the square of Mirabella, food and rations were distributed to the inhabitants.
